50 years on from the Vietnam war, people of the Upper Mekong, in neighbouring Laos, are constantly reminded of the horrors. More bombs were dropped here than in the whole of the second world war and unexploded ordnance (UXO) is constantly being dug up by farmers, construction workers and children playing in the fields.
Various organisations are working with local people trying to discover and destroy UXOs hopefully making this beautiful part of the world safer for future generations.
